The Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes (France)

August, 1998

Château of Chambord, yard and spiral staircase
Built for the king François I in sXVI, this hunting castle is a masterpice of French Renaissance style. The yard has staircases in each corner, making movility easier. But the most famous staircase is the interior one, formed by a double helix, allowing up and down independent flows. The presence of Leonrado da Vinci for several years at the near court of the king is supposed to be the inspiration for this work.
